The site of the battle at Laing’s Nek where the British were defeated on 28th January 1881 is totally overgrown with wattle and the cairns have been destroyed. In contrast the battle site at Schuinshoogte (Ingogo) is well maintained and easily accessible. This battle took place on 8th February and was also a set back to the British prior to the battle of Majuba on 27th February 1881. The road to the Ingogo site is very good and the monuments and graves are close to the road.The grass has been cut to make access to the Cemeteries easy.
