The Kamberg area is the jewel of the Midlands. The small chalets at Kamberg Nature Reserve, run by Ezemvelo are clean and comfortable and give you a great early morning starting point for a number of varied hikes.
The trout dams are still stocked but the hatchery has been closed, I’m told,by some purist who decided trout should not be in our rivers. Whilst indigenous is great, imagine what KZN midlands would look like without exotic trees ? Very bleak and inhospitable as it was 150 years ago.
The Kamberg area also is at the foothills of the Highmoor and Giants Castle areas with the silhouette of the Giant ever present. There are also a number of outstanding Lodges like Cleopatras,Glengarry and Engeleni.
