Durban Law Courts history

The present law Courts on Victoria Embankment has a rich history. The first Durban hospital was at Bayside and the Natal Government Hospital was on this site from 1861 to 1879, when a new Addington Hospital was built in 1879. It was immediately commandeered by the military to treat Isandlewana  survivors and other Anglo-Zulu War campaigns in Natal.

The site was then used by DHS between 1880 and 1894 and then by Durban Boys Model School between 1895 to 1907. It is now the Durban High Court.
